Matsuda Seiko 松田聖子 - A4 Riso Print (Signed and Numbered)
Matsuda Seiko 松田聖子
Singer, actress, and idol
歌手、女優、アイドル (1962年3月10日– )
郷ひろみは古い価値観を持っており、彼女には家庭をつくることに集中し仕事を辞めて欲しいと考えていました。松田聖子は彼との関係に終止符を打ちました。
Matsuda Seiko rose to fame as a teen idol in 1980 after winning a ‘Miss Seventeen’ contest held by a popular magazine. She went on to shatter records throughout her career. She reached 24 consecutive number one hits, had 50 top ten albums, and the most number 1 albums. In 2011, Japanese TV program Music Station listed her as the second-best selling idol of all time in Japan with 29,510,000 records sold—dubbing her the “Eternal Idol.”
When other idols popular in the 1980s began to disappear from the scene, Matsuda kept going strong. She is still releasing singles, albums, holding annual concerts and Christmas dinner shows today.
Matsuda inspired women around Japan not just through her fashion sense but helped them change their attitudes toward relationships and careers. In 1983, Matsuda was in a relationship with fellow pop star Go Hiromi with rumours of a pending engagement, however, he boasted traditional values and wanted her to give up her career and focus on a family. Matsuda ended the relationship. This move almost certainly was a catalyst to help working women of the 1980s break the mould and continue their careers after marriage.
What is a riso print?
These prints use risograph technology, a method of printing developed in Japan in the mid-1980s. It can be described as a mix between screenprinting and photocopying. The risograph process produces prints with extremely vibrant, crisp inks, and sometimes these inks overlap during the printing process to create interesting and unique details. These soy-based inks also have a lower environmental impact.
