Hannya 般若
Hannya (般若) is a type of mask used in Noh theatre intended to represent a jealous female serpent. Different masks have different meanings—a white mask depicts a woman of aristocratic status, a red mask depicts a woman of low-class status, and dark red depicts true demons. The way the actor moves can suggest different emotions—when the actor looks straight ahead the mask appears to be angry, but when tilted down it can appear sorrowful and tormented.
Available in two sizes. Frame not included.
