Geta (下駄) are a type of Japanese platform sandal that resemble both flip-flops and clogs. They have an elevated wooden base and a fabric thong to keep the foot above the ground, and are sometimes worn in the rain or snow to keep feet dry. Geta are worn with informal clothing and socks are optional.
